It is said that the movement came out of Canada and a Vancouver artist Ted Dave was an instigator and that it was promoted by Adbusters. Most references we saw in google are just parroting the same one line.
Buy Nothing is a light hearted action resisting the culture of mindless spending. Its anti-consumerism, encourages waste reduction; recognises and exposes sweated workshops and third world exploitation. Encourages community economies and VOLUNTARY SIMPLICITY
Celebrations occur in November each year which is a heavy pre-Christmas spending time. In the U.S and throughout the world. Including Cairns.
