Early work

Maiia: I worked in the non-digital world of black and white drawing and film in the 1980s.  Left a smiling madonna, 'cause the little pics floating round the op-shops in those days were so unbelievably dour - rather than joyous, and natural, hence the abundant growth imagery. 

 

 Norma McCarthy one of our Cairns, Australian  Outsider Artists   inspired a move to paint,

During the 1980s / 90s Norma and Paicey were stars of the North.   They were also working at times with extremely complex concepts

 

Progress meant exploring simple qualities and the concepts behind colour theory and the chakra systems as the Europeanish culture perceives and purports it to be.     -

and transcendant part of our nature would be at the heart, the fiery qualities to our self-expression and yellow courage and will would go to the crown etc.

 

Maiia: Just been watching an Episode of  Bridging Heaven and Earth which introduced a concept

- Transmission Meditation (NZ). 

 

This is remarkably similar to what Ive been exploring in paint.  And the creator of this ideas was a visual artist too apparently.  If the rainbow is a moving energy it needn't be red at the base and I was thinking of green as the base having done  the Greenman work in 2006.
