RELATIVE PITCH ABSOLUTE PITCH -wiki
Interesting one from Sydney e-Scholarship Repository -self esteem and absolute pitch (AP)- "The results also suggested that RP students tend to have less positive self-concepts in aural perception and music theory, while having more positive self-concepts in other musical arenas. The majority of the AP participants had a desire to become a solo performer, and the RP participants’ tended to plan broader musical goals such as combining teaching and ensemble performance. These results suggested that the possession of AP has had a significant effect on the identity of these individuals."

Comment on ‘Early Childhood Music Education and Predisposition to Absolute Pitch: Teasing Apart Genes and Environment’ - Amerian Journal of Medical Genetics - 2007
Maiia: spotted this thing ... all kids are born with perfect pitch - (can't remember the link) Think it relates to the Hungarian system Orzsaczky was trained in. Paul Green -: aahh bullshit, who told ya that Maiia: -government
Paul Green that'd be right
Maiia: talkin' newborns... and 2 to 4 year olds -prolly lose it ( and then we an go into linguistic pitch - Lmfao )
Paul Green : there's 2 types, there's perfect or absolute pitch and there's relevant/relative pitch and theyre 2 different things that people confuse.
PAUL GREEN: take any 2 notes in an octave, relates to music not instrument as such say if you sang a C note and said to me sing a e flat i could, or an F or any note
MAIIA: Gotcha
PAUL GREEN: once you have the starting note
Paul Green: relative pitch means you instinctively know where all the others are so lets say
PAUL GREEN: we're in the key of C
Paul Green: we have the C and an E flat
Maiia ok...
Paul Green: is a minor 3rd interval
Paul Green : but as far as perfect pitch goes, or any note, once you have the starting note
Paul Green:perfect means to sing in tune with a pitch pipe unnacompanied by an instrument
MAIIA: aha, pick it outa the sky
Paul green: sing in concert pitch -yeah lol
Maiia: doesnt sound as fun lol- thinking in terms of performance history with bunky old instruments and tunings
Paul Green : bit easy aint it lol - so can you imagine a country full of hungarians all with perfect pitch
Paul Green; people can learn relative pitch unbeknownst to them
Paul green ; its great
Paul green; so usefull : not as primo as perfect
Maiia; fascinating...
Paul green: but fuck its more use to me, yanno how people think i sing pretty flash ? well thats cos of relative pitch ...i can see all the notes in my head.....and all i gotta do is choose the ones i want
Maiia; interlesting
Paul green : its like , i'll have one a those, 2 a them ahhh fuck it toss i a few of the other lol
Maiia: that'll be the variance I've heard - you're never identical but always right
Paul green: exactly never identical - cos i didnt have to be
tPaul Green: i'm just lucky - a nice lil gift
Paul Green lol -garry steel and i used to play pitch games on the road
Paul Green break the boredom in the car
Maiia: ehe
Paul Green: have the piano accordian behind the seat and he'd say
sing me a G - lol
Maiia: Bill played a chord other day- G says me -A sharp he says -I thought that was pretty good
Paul Green: very good
Paul Green: on what?
Maiia: guitar
Paul green: well is it in concert pitch ?
Maiia: ehehe - prolly not
