Via Negativa

If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be.  Now put foundations under them. - Henry David Thoreau

Sharing space with Cairns Peace by Peace reminds me of war veteran Richard Peers Adam's, how his post-trauma from Nazi Germany disappeared by connecting in the  Via Creativa.  We all were transported and transformed.  Following each and every move of a puppet theatre of toys. Hanging on to every word of the improvised song.  There was some kind of peace and reconciliation, I think for him, that what he had seen was what it was, and he was right to stand for all children, all joy, all that is Holy and of Life.

The beingness, connectedness to life that may be understood only through direct experience.  The connection of which I speak may be called biophyllia (love of life) it is personal, it is profound.    Via Positiva

I used the image of Franz Jaggerstatter (above left) for the path of the via negativa.  I'm a bit "that which can be named is not the Tao" when it comes to the via negativa.  Shellshock can be redeemed though, take for example Aki Ra - a conscripted child soldier in 3 different regimes, he has taken that experience and has spent the last 20 years disarming landmines - reducing the annual death toll from these abominations in his region from 3000 to 1000.

Via Creativa  recreation, imagination, syncronicity, inspired creativity - It doesn't matter how or what you create just that you do. It could be a couple of Teddy's doing an impromptu Punch n Judy show, it could be a landmine museum where every shell is literally a life saved, today it could be as simple as 'liking' someones creativity in facebook.

"For several decades, sincere and dedicated people have been focusing on everything that is wrong with Humanity and our institutions, and they have used every possible opportunity to tell the masses about all of the negative things occurring on the planet. Their intent was to wake people up from the mesmerized stupor in which so many of us function. The problem is that our thoughts and feelings are creative, so when we encourage people to focus their attention on all of the maladies that are causing Humanity’s pain and suffering, without giving them viable solutions to solve the problems, we just incite fear and anger. This actually feeds and empowers the very maladies we are trying to expose, and it makes everything much worse." - Alan Steinfeld

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." Thoreau  Walden's Pond   Norma McCarthy- Via Negativa.  Outsider Art
