Maryanne Amu is a Papua New Guinean registerd nurse working at Cairns Base Hospital, who also practises the traditional craft of Billam Making, and Saturday runs a market stall selling Wapenamanda Billams, basketweaving, carving, painting and sewing.

Wapenamanda WCPHC eases some of the pressure load off a small rural town,by working with communicable and preventable diseases. Providing daily education and awareness programs, in nutrition, hygiene, positive living activities; and care during hospitalisation when sick. The Outreach program into remote communities also has a womens service reducing risk to babies.
